Every day should start like today. The perfect mix of getting me moving. I had a package waiting for me at the post office on St. Laurent, so I threw on some clothes, grabbed my headphones and headed out.

It's a beautiful day out. I had Ben Lee carrying me along my walk. An easy, bouncy beat and sappy lyrics that hit just the right memories.

If you gamble everything for love, you're gonna be all right, all right.

There was a girl with a huge poof of hair. She looked like she was flying on her bike. There was a guy who looked like a very short Steve Nash.

I'm trying to make eye contact
With each and every stranger that I pass
Thinking about the city
It's living proof people need to be together

The Chinese man hands me my package with a minimum of questions. Outside the post office is a girl in an olive green hat, talking on her cell phone, looking a bit lost. I start my return trip.

And there's no one to dance with
Remembering her smile and the nuclear bomb
And the reasons I loved her
Walking through Central Park
I'm in a foriegn country and I'm waiting for a sign

The music keeps swelling in my ears, causing me to fall into a half-skip every once in a while. But, I keep my legs under control and underneath me.

I'm still singing
Twisting new melodies, breaking arrangements
Thinking about my heart
I guess you've heard, sometimes it's heavy
But I just keep moving

I try not to dance too much on the elevator ride to my apartment. Fingers itching to open the package. I finally tear into it on the trip between the elevator and my apartment door. "Where the Sidewalk Ends" in my hands, "Apple Candy" in my ears, an enormous stupid grin on my face.

'Cause you smell like apple candy
and we're singing hallelujah
and I'm feeling so much younger than my years

Today is going to be a good day.
